Nutrition management of diarrhea includes drinking clear fluids for the first 12-24 hours or until the symptoms start clearing up, followed by BRAT diet or other bland diet limiting all foods that could be contributing to diarrhea, such as milk, coffee, fruits and vegetables high in insoluble fiber and fructose, whole grains, candies, fried and greasy foods. Solid foods should be added slowly, to make sure they are not causing any symptoms, starting from starch, then yogurt, then low fiber fruit and vegetables.
