ancient supergrain, that is actually a pseudo-grain (seed of a pseudo-cereal crop that is not a true grass). Also known as Kañiwa,  Qañiwa, Qañawa or Qañawi, Scientific Name is Chenopodium pallidicaule.

Dark reddish-brown almost black in color, seeds are rich in protein, fiber, iron and calcium, and antioxidants.  Kaniwa 
cooks up quickly to resemble a smaller version of red quinoa.
